Empty Houses in Astrology: Nah Sis, It Doesn't Mean You’re Doomed!
Share
In this chart; the 2nd and 9th houses are totally empty. Meaning there are no planets or asteroids in those areas of the wheel.

Alright, let’s talk about empty houses in astrology because I know some of y’all are out here stressing, thinking your love life is doomed forever just because your 7th House is empty. Nah homey, let me break it down real quick—empty houses do NOT mean nothing happens there.

If you’ve ever looked at your birth chart and noticed some houses have no planets, you might’ve thought:

  • “Does this mean I’ll never find love?” (If your 7th House is empty)

  • “Will I be broke forever?” (If your 2nd House is empty)

  • “Is my career gonna be non-existent?” (If your 10th House is empty)

Sis, breathe. Astrology doesn’t work like that. Let’s get into what empty houses actually mean and why they are NOT a bad thing.

What Are Empty Houses?

Your birth chart is divided into 12 houses, and each one represents a different area of your life—money, love, career, home life, etc.

But here’s the thing: you only have 10 planets (if we’re counting the Sun and Moon), and there are 12 houses. So unless you’ve got a super-packed chart, you’re gonna have at least a couple of empty houses.

That does NOT mean nothing happens in that area of your life. It just means you don’t have a planet influencing things 24/7. Instead, you look at the sign ruling that house to see how things play out.

What Do Empty Houses Mean?

1️⃣ Empty Houses Still Function

Just because a house is empty doesn’t mean it’s inactive. The zodiac sign on the cusp of that house tells you how you experience that area of life.

Example:

  • Empty 7th House (Relationships): You still have relationships, but they’re guided by the sign on the cusp, not a planet inside the house.

  • Empty 10th House (Career): You’ll still have a job, a reputation, and public recognition—it just plays out based on your 10th House ruler (instead of being directly influenced by a planet sitting there).

2️⃣ Some Areas of Life Require Less Energy

If a house is empty, it might just mean you don’t have to struggle in that area as much. The universe was like, “You good, let’s focus on other lessons.”

Example:

  • Empty 4th House (Home & Family): You might have a stable family life without a lot of drama.

  • Empty 6th House (Work & Health): You probably don’t have major work or health struggles—things flow naturally.

3️⃣ Look at the House Ruler for Answers

Instead of freaking out over an empty house, look at the planet ruling that house for insight.

Example:

  • If you have an empty 2nd House (money) but Taurus is on the cusp, look at Venus in your chart. That’s the planet that rules how you handle your money.

  • If your 10th House (career) is empty but Aquarius is on the cusp, check Uranus—that’s where your career energy is showing up.
