I've been preaching this for sooooo long! Been mapping to leave META completely by the end of this month, March. I built my business on META platforms for 15 years...it isn't worth it and it hasn't been for a very long time. @themediocreblackwoman and I did a whole podcast episode on this topic a few weeks ago!
Like you, I love photography and that was my main reason why I was on IG.
This year, I decided to step down from Instagram. It was not sustainable to invest so much time into something I don’t take any pleasure. I wanted to preserve my mental health.
I decided to invest my time into YouTube, my blog, my newsletter on Kit, my Pinterest and now on my Substack.
Now, I realize that my creativity is back on track🔥🔥🔥
YES! I love this for you! IG has stolen a lot of our creativity because we got caught up in trying to be visible due to the algorithm but all of these other platforms allow us to be creative and that of course inspires us. So i’m proud of you for going where you’re appreciated. <3
I love how you outlined the reasons you may want to stay. And I want to add for anybody reading to stay, if it still feels safe for your audience to be on there. I moved off because of concerns around that. 🤎 this was such a good episode Lexie. Thank you 🙏🏾
Gurl!!!! This episode. Is exactly why I left. I felt like it was exhausting and tiring. One of my very first episodes on here is about that.
It was a grind for years and then I moved over here exclusively and boom!
